Re: [OPIS] Gigantspinosaurus

Post autor: nazuul »

Zmieniłem wiek i parę innych:
https://www.encyklopedia.dinozaury.com/ ... ldid=27172

Należy jeszcze zmienić datowania taksonów z formacji Shangshaximiao (=górna część formacji Shaximiao) i Xiashaximiao (=dolna część formacji Shaximiao).
Shangshaximiao, stara forma tabeli: https://www.encyklopedia.dinozaury.com/ ... ldid=15138
Xiashaximiao, nowa forma tabeli: https://www.encyklopedia.dinozaury.com/ ... ldid=26747

Istotne jest datowanie Wang i in. (2020). Młodsza formacja Suining ma maksymalny wiek 144 Ma (Li i in., 2018).
Ciekawe jest niepublikowane datowanie Zhou i in. (2021) z 210 m powyżej podstawy formacji - 175 Ma i wskazane w nim datowanie górnej części na 169 ± 0,68 Ma.

suplement
Though traditionally considered Middle Jurassic in age (e.g., Dong et al., 1983), the beds of the lower Shaximiao Formation at Dashanpu were recently dated at 159 ± 2 Ma (with 10% discordance and 1 standard deviation error, sample ZG-2 is recalculated to 160.35 ± 0.37 and sample ZG-4 to 160.35 ± 0.36; J. Stielger, pers. comm. 2018), likely placing all of the Shaximiao Formation within the Late Jurassic (Wang et al., 2018). Two detrital zircons sampled from different localities near the bottom of the Shaximiao Formation give concordant ages of 161.33 ± 1.44 and 161.47 ± 2.02 (Li et al., 2018); assuming these detrital zircon ages are not substantially older than the age of the lower Shaximiao Formation, the lower Shaximiao Formation likely does not extend appreciably into the Callovian. For sauropod taxa from the Dashanpu Quarry at Zigong (Shunosaurus lii, Omeisaurus tianfuensis), in the lower Shaximiao Formation, we use an age range of 158.98 to 162.77 Ma (a range inclusive of the minimum age of detrital grains from Dashanpu to the maximum age of the grain from site SC046 of Li et al., 2018, from near the bottom of the Shaximiao Formation). For taxa from elsewhere in the lower Shaximiao Formation (Omeisaurus junghsiensis), we use the oldest age of the detrital grain from site SC046, from near the base of the Shaximiao Formation (Li et al., 2018), as the lower bound and a mid-Kimmeridgian upper bound to conservatively capture the age of the lower Shaximiao Formation (i.e., a range of 154.75 to 162.77 Ma).
For the upper Shaximiao Formation (from which Omeisaurus maoianus, Mamenchisaurus constructus, and both the holotype and referred specimens of Mamenchisaurus hochuanensis are known), we use a conservative range of 148.6 to 158.3 Ma, encompassing the entirety of the Kimmeridgian and the first half of the Tithonian. The Wujiaba Dam Quarry (from which Mamenchisaurus youngi was recovered) is 15m above the conchostracan shale that divides the lower and upper Shaximiao Formation. Given that this locality is low in the upper Shaximiao Formation, we restrict its age to the first half of the Kimmeridgian (154.75 to 158.3 Ma).

Wyżej pisałem dlaczego to nomen nudum.
Maidement i Wei (2006: 628) sami tak uważali: "Gigantspinosaurus sichuanensis has never been formally diagnosed", ale mimo to, bez podania uzasadnienia, traktowali go jako ważny.

It's a common misunderstanding that names in abstracts would be invalid. The new text under 9.10. makes this more clear: materials issued primarily to participants at meetings (e.g. symposia, colloquia, congresses, or workshops), including abstracts and texts of presentations or posters. So, if the abstract text is later published in a printed edition, the name in principle is valid.
Also, the requirements of 13.1.1 are quite minimal: be accompanied by a description or definition that states in words characters that are purported to differentiate the taxon. So any description intended to differentiate suffices. That intent might be implicit: no formal diagnosis needs to be given. This is why Recommendation 13A adhorts the author to make his intent explicit by giving a formal diagnosis anyway. Very commendable but not mandatory.
